A thoughtfully designed office isn’t just about furniture or color schemes — it’s about planning, flow, and purpose. In this project for DSV Global, our design team reimagined a commercial office environment from the ground up, using a strategic layout to define how people would work, collaborate, and thrive.
Every successful design begins with understanding the purpose. For this office, our client required a balance between focused individual work and dynamic team interactions. The key challenge was to establish clearly zoned areas that would support both — without sacrificing space or comfort. A 2D layout allowed us to visualise circulation, desk placement, and division of departments with clarity. This planning phase helped avoid costly errors later and streamlined execution from concept to reality.
The selected theme for this workspace was minimalist professional — clean, uncluttered, and timeless. Instead of excessive embellishments, we focused on function-forward styling. Neutral color palettes and structured lines set the tone, allowing the branding and team energy to take center stage. The layout acted as a silent guide, organizing elements into a visual rhythm that felt harmonious and goal-driven.
Zoning played a critical role in this project. Through the 2D layout, we created distinct spaces: a welcoming reception area, collaborative meeting rooms, focused workstations, and private cabins for management. This logical separation prevented overlaps and improved noise control. Hallways and open spaces were mapped to ensure seamless movement and compliance with safety and accessibility norms.
While the 2D layout was technical in nature, it laid the foundation for aesthetic decisions. Based on the blueprint, we chose high-quality materials like scratch-resistant laminates for desks, acoustic wall panels for meeting rooms, and matte-finish flooring that added texture without visual noise. The layout also informed the use of warm neutrals to create continuity across different functional areas.
One of the often-overlooked aspects of commercial design is lighting — but not for us. The 2D layout made it easy to plan light fixtures in a way that avoided glares on screens, reduced shadows, and enhanced task-specific visibility. From pendant lighting in communal spaces to focused LED downlights in individual cabins, every fixture was positioned for performance.
Every office needs storage, but bulky cabinets can ruin flow. Thanks to the precise measurements and clarity offered by the 2D layout, we were able to design sleek storage solutions built into partitions and under desks. No square foot was wasted. This ensured that the office felt open and spacious, even with multiple teams working simultaneously.
The transformation from a generic office shell to a dynamic, functional environment was deeply satisfying. The client appreciated how the 2D layout helped them visualise the final structure before making major decisions. It gave them confidence, clarity, and complete control.
